Prof. Dr. Marcus Becker
"I believe that learning is not just an individual process — it’s a shared journey of discovery, clarity, and transformation.
Who is Marcus?
“Whether I’m exploring a new machine learning algorithm, unpacking a complex financial model, or climbing up a mountain, I thrive on the interplay between structure and curiosity. In every teaching moment, I aim to bring that same energy and openness — helping learners move from theory to practice, from insight to understanding.”
Prof. Dr. Marcus Becker combines deep quantitative expertise with a strong commitment to applied AI education. With a background in mathematics and finance, and over a decade of academic and consulting experience, he has supported banks, consultancies, and technology-driven organizations in applying data science to real-world decision-making — especially in the domains of financial risk, asset management, and digital advisory services.
As a professor at the International School of Management, he leads the Master’s programs in Business Intelligence and Applied Data Science, teaching courses on AI, machine learning, optimization, and financial modeling. His teaching approach is both rigorous and empowering — designed to make complexity manageable and innovation accessible.
He is also an active researcher and innovator, having published on explainable AI, algorithmic decision-making, and GPT-based systems, while driving initiatives on AI ecosystems and decentralized intelligence. For him, AI is not just a tool — it’s a way to rethink how we solve problems, empower people, and create value with purpose.

Meet the Person Behind the Trainer
My passion lies mainly in outdoor sports such as Snowboarding, Mountain Biking, Hiking, and Surfing. I like the connection of nature with adrenaline.
Since I was a child my parents would spend all their holidays in Italy. That is why I am a big fan of any kind of Mediterranean food like Pasta, Pizza, and Fish.
Looking for the truth without ever knowing what the truth is.
I would find another research interest to help humans ease their jobs.
I often hear people’s doubts about AI getting rid of their jobs. I do not believe that this is true. AI should be thought of a leverage of human abilities. As McAfee and Brynjolfsson (2011) would state it: We should not try to win the race against the machines, but try to race with them.
Just start.
